Honorary Thespians
High school is a place where students can explore their interests and excel in many different areas, and graduation exercises are the perfect time to recognize and honor them for their accomplishments. We have created the opportunity for students who are particularly interested in the dramatic arts to explore their skills, meet other students with similar interests, and improve their abilities through both professional and school productions. The honorary graduation cord is a long lasting token of their theatrical high school experiences. In offering students the royal blue and gold honor cord, we are giving them the recognition they deserve for their diligence and efforts in improving both themselves and the artistic world, and encouraging them in their dreams to continue in their theatrical success.
HistoryIn 2018 the MHHS Theatre Department adopted a point-based system in creating an honorary thespian society. The point system is similar to that of the National Thespian Society with points awarded for acting and technical theatre participation. Honorary thespians are recognized at our annual graduation ceremony with the royal blue and gold honor cord similar to that of the National Thespian Society.

RecognitionIn order to be recognized as an Honorary Thespian at graduation, a student must accumulate at least 100 points over the course of his/her high school career (grades 9-12), earning at least 10 of those points during his/her senior year. This point-based system accommodates students moving to Mountain Home as it allows them to include theatre points from previous schools/theaters with written authorization from the teacher/director.
